🧠 Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays an essential role in the human body. Its most well-known function is its involvement in bone metabolism: It promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphate from the intestine and their incorporation into the bones.

In addition, vitamin D is involved in numerous other metabolic processes – including the formation of proteins and the control of a large number of genes.
